7th World Homeshare Congress

Hot off the press: The 7th World Homeshare Congress will be held in Liverpool in May 2021! More news as we get it.

6th World Homeshare Congress

The 6th World Homeshare Congress took place in Brussels in 2019. It was held over the weekend of 21 and 22 March 2019, and was hosted by Belgian homeshare organization 1Toit2Ages (“one roof, two ages”), along with Homeshare International. The event was a huge success, again setting records for attendance (some 200 delegates) and diversity (17 countries). There’s a comprehensive page about the Congress at Homeshare International, including downloads of the various presentations and a heap of lovely photos!

5th World Homeshare Congress

The 5th World Homeshare Congress took place in Madrid, Spain on 25 to 26 May 2017, at Madrid’s City Hall, the Palacio Cibeles. It was attended by over 140 delegates from 11 countries, making it the biggest Congress yet. The congress theme was “Expanding Homeshare, Building Bridges”. It was bilingual, with real-time simultaneous translation from Spanish to English and vice versa. There is plenty of information about the Congress — including photos, copies of presentations, and the congress program — at  Homeshare International.

4th World Homeshare Congress

More than 100 delegates from Belgium, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, the UK, USA and Australia gathered in Melbourne between 5-6 November 2015 to examine the role ‘homeshare’ programs can play in tackling some of the intergenerational challenges of ageing populations, housing affordability and social and disability services.

The theme of the World Congress was ‘Homeshare ticks the boxes’.

The two-day Congress featured policy makers, leading demographers, social commentators and Homeshare practitioners and participants. As part of his official opening address the Hon. Martin Foley MP, Victorian Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing announced that Victoria would trial the Homeshare model in public housing in 2016.

HANZA Board member Alexis Hughes has prepared this Evaluation Report. You can also read our 4th World Homeshare Congress Review.
